What We Do...

The goal of Christopher's Guests is to provide financial and emotional support to families who have come to Pittsburgh in support of sick loved ones. We work with each individual family to help meet their personal needs during their stay in Pittsburgh.

Through an ever-growing network of businesses and individuals we are able to lessen the burden on those in need by providing support and care. These families need help with some very basic costs that most of us take for granted.

We provide families subsidized housing, information on bus schedules and bus tickets, cab coupons, restaurant, grocery and gas cards, where to park, directions to and from important areas and any of the basic questions or needs one would come across when suddenly placed in an unfamiliar area.

 Who We Help...

Recipients of aid from Christopher's Guests
must meet two criteria:

..have a child under the age of 19 who needs medical treatment in Pittsburgh

...have traveled more than 60 miles to come to Pittsburgh for medical treatment

Housing Subsidies

 Christopher's Guests works to subsidize housing at The Ronald McDonald House and The Family House for patients and their families.The housing subsidies are available on a first come, first serve basis. There is limited availibility; we will subsidize housing for one family per week, per facility.

We will pay in full for up to one week.

The Family House

We will pay $15 per night for up to one week. 

Programs:

Hospitality Program

Christopher's Guests helps ease the stress created by coming to an unfamiliar city with a sick child. We do our best to answer the questions and financial needs that these families come across. 

Community Cares Program

To better meet all the requests and needs of the families we help, Christopher's Guests matches community volunteers with families. The volunteers help the families by providing them with helpful knowledge of the city, transportation, meal preparation and much more.

Exploration Pittsburgh

Here at Christopher's Guests we think it is really important to provide opportunities for the families to get away from the gloom of the hospitals and explore the fun side of Pittsburgh. With that said this program provides individual families tickets to places such as The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, The Children's Institute, The Carnegie Science Museum and more. In addition to this, the program works to plan field trips to various Pittsburgh locations for multiple families to take part in.
